Information for Participants


Arrival

When you arrive in Berlin-Tegel by plane, there are regular busses directly to Berlin-Hauptbahnhof as well as to Berlin-Zoologischer Garten from which you reach Hauptbahnhof by S-Bahn (city train - three stations direction East).

There is one later connection which we do not recommend since you have to change trains in Angermünde or Stralsund.
Tickets for IC (intercity: faster, more comfortable) cost 38 Euro, for RE (regional express) cost 31,70 Euro.
When you use RE, do NOT get out at the tiny station Greifswald-Süd just before Greifswald main station (which is not large and under construction).
At the main station the organizers will wait for you, and there are always taxis which may bring you to the hotel.
When you share a taxi with 3 persons, it is almost as cheap as taking the bus.
Do not hesitate to ask the organizers for more details on connections.

Hotel accomodation

Organizers try hard to get accomodation within walking distance of the conference place.
You will obtain detailed information about the place of your hotel.
If you have not done so, please inform us on the day of your arrival and departure.
Due to package prices, all hotels are comparatively cheap, 52 to 70 Euro for a single room. However, this covers no other meals than breakfast. Please inform us if you wish an arrangement with other meals.

Scientific programme

There will be plenary sessions every morning, 9-12 a.m., and afternoon session from 2 to 6 p.m. in two sections.
The opening session on Monday is 9:15 in the main building of the university in the old town with the talks of Lawler and Grigoryan.
All other talks will be on the university campus Jahnstrasse, near to the hotels.

Cultural programme

After the opening session, there is the possibility to visit some historical buildings of the university or the old town.
On Wednesday, immediately after the morning session, an excursion will take place. We shall go by bus to the nice island of Rügen. The schedule depends on the weather. We shall charge you about 20 Euro if you take part in the excursion.
Since we have many young participants, we shall try to meet in the evening at a nearby beach for volleyball or soccer. So please bring along sports clothes.
Thursday night there will be a dinner.
Other suggestions are welcome.
